Who Am I?

It is midweek. The days speed by. It has been considerably cooler this week which is nice for walking and other outside exercise. I'm signed up for the RCA Insurance program Amazing Pace which is a walking program designed to improve one's health. My goal is 10,000 steps a day which I have made most days. It does take effort to achieve. That could be a connection to my blog title of soul work. Soul work takes intentional effort to do though ultimately the work is God's but you need to cooperate and give yourself over to it. As I look back I can see some change and spiritual development in my soul/life for which I am most thankful. Joyce would probably wish for more change and growth but it is coming.

The weekend was beautiful weather wise, sunny and warm with a bit of cool in the evening. Saturday we drove to the Clay County Fair in Spencer Iowa. A fair that is well know in this part of the country for its size and offerings. We met some ARC friends. Our presence there was really to attend the Casting Crowns music concert. They are a very good contemporary Christian music group. In my opinion one of the best because for me they are not over loud and I can understand the lyrics which are usually very biblical or Bible theme oriented. In other words their songs can touch, inspire and challenge the soul. The concert they did at the fair was very good. One of my favorite Casting Crown's song is "Who Am I?" It just touches my soul and enriches me every time I hear it. It has been out for a number of years now. I'll see if I can get all the words pasted below because I really don't want to type them all in if I don't have to. (Thank you Sarah for your help) Now i will highlight some of the special phrases that touch my soul

Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth
Would care to know my name
Would care to feel my hurt
Who am I, that the Bright and Morning Star
Would choose to light the way
For my ever wandering heart

Not because of who I am
But because of what You've done
Not because of what I've done
But because of who You are

I am a flower quickly fading
Here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean
Vapor in the wind
Still You hear me when I'm calling
Lord, You catch me when I'm falling
And You've told me who I am
I am Yours, I am Yours
Who am I, that the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love and watch me rise again
Who am I, that the voice that calmed the sea
Would call out through the rain
And calm the storm in me

Not because of who I am
But because of what You've done
Not because of what I've done
But because of who You are

I am a flower quickly fading
Here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean
Vapor in the wind
Still You hear me when I'm calling
Lord, You catch me when I'm falling
And You've told me who I am
I am Yours

Not because of who I am
But because of what You've done
Not because of what I've done
But because of who You are

I am a flower quickly fading
Here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean
Vapor in the wind
Still You hear me when I'm calling
Lord, You catch me when I'm falling
And You've told me who I am
I am Yours

I am Yours
Whom shall I fear
Whom shall I fear
'Cause I am Yours

I am Yours

If you want to hear them sing it you can go to You Tube and type in the title and follow the link to it.
I pray God's presence and care for you because you are God's by God's goodness, love, mercy and grace. Wow! Thank you Lord for letting us know you and grow in your way of living.

  1. That's one of my favorites, too, Dave. It tells it like it is. Not because of who we are in ourselves, but because of God's love and what He has done FOR US. -- Harvey Heneveld
