Confident in God

What can I say? My priority of doing this blog has not been great. I do think about doing it but the energy level and available time seems limited. Anyway, summer is speeding by once again. We are in midst of summer heat wave in Holland area. We were happy to host friends from Luverne Harold and Nancy Ver Steeg who are on an eastern U.S. trip. Overlapping them was a visit from Evan and Linda DeBoer of Rock Rapids IA. The DeBoers stayed at our home while the Ver Steegs camped at the state park. We had a good time showing them the sites of Holland. Linda and Evan both have relatives in our area so they spent some time with them as well. Now we are alone again and waiting for Ed and Dixie Murphy from Des Moines visit us next week. It was great for us to have our family all in Holland for the July 4 holiday. Our next big event will be the birth of our grandchild to Sarah and Joel around the second week of August. Our oldest grandchild Juliana might argue that I neglected to mention the big event of her obtaining her driver's permit and then having her wisdom teeth extracted. It is special for us to be close by our children in this retirement chapter of our life.
Here are a couple of quotes for your soul work.

First from Robert Whitlow's novel Water's Edge (Whitlow is a Christian John Grisham). Without going into background or detail one of the characters spoke these words that captured my attention.

"I don't believe God's sovereignty is an excuse for man's mistakes, but I believe that he's working all things for your good."

The second quote from The English Standard Version Study Bible commentary on Amos 8:11.

"People who have repeatedly rejected God's words will suddenly be unable to find God's words at all."

I pray that you are each well and knowing the joy and peace of God. Remember: "Do what God says and say what God does."
