Get Up!

"Get up, go away! For this is not your resting place."  Micah 2:10

All of us will hear this message sooner or later. "Get up! It's time to leave your home, your business, your family and your friends. It is time to take your final journey.
What do we know about that journey? What do we know about the land where we are going? We have read a little, and the Spirit has revealed some to us, but we still know very little of our future home.
We know there is a dark and stormy river called death. God tells us to cross it, promising to be with us. And what comes then? What world of wonder will open up to us? No traveler has ever returned to tell us.
Yet we know enough about the heavenly land to rejoice when we are finally summoned there. The journey of death may be dark, but we can travel without fear. God is with us as we walk through the gloomy valley. We need to fear no evil as Psalm 23 puts it. We will be leaving all we have known and loved here, but we are headed for our Father's house, to that royal city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God. We will be with Jesus.
This will be our last move. We will live forever with the Lord we love and with all His people. Christian, meditate on heave as much as you can; it will help you to press on, to forget how difficult the journey can be. This valley of tears is only the pathway to a better country. This world of woe is the stepping stone to a world of blessing."  [adapted from Charles Spurgeon]

Oh yes, this world is not my home I'm just a passing through, if heaven's not my home Oh Lord what will I do.

Sarah Young in her new book Jesus Always reminds us that we can talk freely with the Lord Jesus since he knows everything about us and our circumstances. Jesus never rejects us because the penalty for our sins has been paid in full -- with his blood. He asks us to trust him enough to pour out our hearts to Him for he is our refuge.

It is a comfort to know that God cares about us and our hurts, needs and wants and invites us to cast our cares upon Him. I heard a sermon this morning that reminded me of Jesus' precious words and admonition that we ought always to pray and not lose heart or be discouraged. Well I'm working on that but at times I do lose heart and wonder if my prayers are really being heard. When its all been said and done it is not about me but about the love and grace of God which God promises to be sufficient for my every need.
