Enjoy the journey

A few spiritual thoughts.
Adam Mc Hugh in The Listening Life writes about the spiritual discipline of the "long walk"; which is about attentiveness, about receiving each moment as a gift and listening to the sermons creation is preaching to us. We are to allow the fog of our overactive life to drift out of our soul, silencing our minds and hearts and giving ourselves over to God's gifts in our immediate surroundings. Be perceptive to that which God is revealing to you in the grand scheme of creation and nature. Remember "the heavens declare the gory of God and the earth shows forth God's handiwork." Remember how Jesus used nature to illustrate his teachings and divine truths.

Here is a quote i liked, "I think the Lord wants us just to enjoy the journey together, without having to figure out where it ends."

The prayer for every day for September 8; "Lord God, my heavenly Father, the work load awaits me and I do not know what concerns or what blessings lie ahead. Grant that I might begin with you and let me not stray from your unfamiliar road. Let me be comforted and happy trying to do your will. Amen.

Words from the lectionary readings for this week:  [what does Holy Spirit say to you through that word?]
Jeremiah 18:1-11  - potter
Psalm 139:1-6; 13-18  - formed
Deuteronomy 30:15-20  - obey
Psalm 1  - delight
Philemon 1:1-21  - sharing
Luke 14:25-33  - carry
Revelation 10:1-11  - eat

Jesus stated that those who would save their life must lose it. (Luke 9:24-25) Most of us are pretty well convinced that we gain by grabbing and holding. Jesus also said, "Give and it will be given to you." (Luke 6:38)

Do what God says! Say what God does!
