Belonging to God

One of the prayers for the day from this week: "My Father, help me to better understand the goal of my life here on earth. May I not misuse my days. Do not my days belong to you? Show me the immense worth of time. Let me so live that every day and every hour glorify your name. Amen.

The following from Back To The Bible is meaningful.  "It's a little intimidating to think of ourselves as part of God's own household, right there with the apostles, and all the prophets, isn't it? It's hard to think of ourselves in the same league as say, Paul or John or Jeremiah or Isaiah. But that is exactly the truth; as Christians, we are all on the same "playing field," with none of us in a higher position than the other. And we are all united in one mission: to share God's love and the Good News of His Son, Jesus Christ. Individually we are each a dwelling, a temple, holding God himself in the form of the Holy Spirit. And collectively we join together as members of one body, working to build God's kingdom here on earth."

Here are the lectionary readings for January 20 - 26 and the word that Holy Spirit directed me to. You might want to reflect on what each word means to you and your relationship with God.

Isaiah 9:1-4                  darkness
Psalm 27:1-9                answer
I Corinthians 1:10-12   united
I Corinthians 1: 13-18  preach
Matthew 4: 12-17         repent
Matthew 4 18-23          follow
Jeremiah 1:1-12           appointed

Here are five things God wants you to remember in trying times (from Faith/Hope notes):
1. You're never, ever alone!
2. Nothing takes God by surprise!
3. When you're weak, God is strong!
4. God is the God of new beginnings!
5. God's love never gives up on us.

Your future is as bright as the promises of God.

Though I don't comprehend the workings of prayer I believe in the power of prayer and practice it regularly. I do use a written prayer list which may at times become rote but nevertheless it gives guidance to my praying and helps me remember those I have promised to remember in prayer. Our prayer life is also encouraged by the knowledge that Jesus faithfully prayed and encouraged his disciples to always pray and not give up.

Remember God made you precious, unique, inspiring and altogether beautiful! You are the "beloved" of God.
