We've had unusually mild temps and much rain the last few days. Now it is to turn very cold plus have 6-12 inches of snow. We have a warm comfortable house and no need to leave if we so choose. We also picked up two movies from the local library today so can always use them except for me movies are a night thing. Joyce and I are enjoying life so much it is scary perhaps with a twinge of guilt because as good Calvinists we shouldn't have too much pleasure. Thankful that God understands better than we and that God's grace is to abound in life for the glory of God.
Today's select Bible verse from Psalm 71:3, "Lord, be to me a rock of refuge, a strong fortress, to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress!"
I like the declarative tone of the author. It is the believer's assurance of God's presence and strength.
Here is the quote on which the title of this blog is based:
"It is unlikely that we will deepen our relationship with God in a casual or haphazard manner. There will be a need for some intentional commitment and some reorganization in our own lives. But there is nothing that will enrich our lives more than a deeper and clearer perception of God's presence in the routine of daily living." (William Paulsell in a Weavings article)
So where did you/I see God in our life today? Also how am I/areyou being intentional about deepening our relationship with God?
Henri Nouwen writes: "Simplicity and regularity are the best guides in finding our way. They allow us to make the discipline of solitude as much a part of our daily lives as eating and sleeping. When that happens, our noisy worries will slowly lose their power over us and the renewing activity of God's Spirit will slowly make its presence known. Although the discipline of solitude asks us to set aside time and space, what finally matters is that our hearts become like quiet cells where God can dwell, wherever we go and whatever we do."
So what did you need to hear in this blog?
Yours for growth and improvement of the soul!
