A Disciple of Jesus

We are home in Holland again after our trip to Fulton and West Allis. Mom Sikkema's 90th birthday celebration went well, as the saying goes, a splendid time was had by all. It was great to have all the siblings there and most of their children. Hopefully Mom will remember that we had this celebration for her. We were grateful for safe travels and good roads both going and returning. It was also very nice to see some relatives not seen for some time.

Wow! We have had some gorgeous spring weather since returning. The trees are beginning to bud and those precious tulips are beginning to grow, in fact our neighbor has some blooming. Tulip Time begins on Saturday and there is much festivity and excitement around the town. I believe the tulips will be in full bloom next week. There are a number of events that we hope to attend including the parades. I know that some of you would enjoy the various musical events being presented.

The following quote from today's spiritual readings connects to the theme of soul work:
"A Christian disciple, one who chooses to be student and follower of Jesus, is not a "self-made person" and is not on a personally designed journey...We choose to follow Jesus and then Jesus chooses where we will go. It is that simple...the saving truth in this is that we are not alone. Thee is One who leads us and goes with us."

To that end Anthony De Mello writes, "Nothing surpasses the holiness of those who have learned perfect acceptance of everything that is."

I pray you are each doing well and that the peace of God that surpasses all understanding is controlling your living.

Remember: Do what God says. Say what God does.
