It is bitter cold outside reminding us of Minnesota cold. It is also snowing lightly. Like most of the Midwest we have had a hard winter. Here are the statistics if you are interested: February snowfall is 46 inches with average being 13 inches. Total snowfall this winter season is 144 inches with average being 70 inches. High temperatures this week have been 12 to 18 degrees with the normal high being 39 degrees. And that is the way it has been most of January and February.
Joyce and I enjoyed two weeks away in Florida. It wasn't super warm but still nice with only a couple of rainy days. It was fun to be with Murphys, Hosses, Storeys and we also saw Doudnas and Klopfensteins. We did daily walks at various places, enjoyed our eatings out and in, watched some movies and a little Olympics and did some shopping at various malls and outlet places. On our trip home we were able to spend a delightful overnight with Joyce's brother and wife Dan and Barb Vermeer on Lookout Mountain GA. The final four hours of our trip home was most difficult as we travelled in extremely dense fog but we made it safe and were thankful.
Here are a couple quotes from the book Far Away Home by Susan Denning. This was a $1.99 Kindle special and not a bad read. "Just be careful. Mistakes can't always be corrected."
"I think tomorrow is more important than yesterday."
I John 2:20 was part of a recent lectionary daily reading; "But you have been anointed by the Holy One and all of you have knowledge." St. Augustine commenting on that verse says, "Hold fast to Christ. For you he became temporal, so that you might partake of eternity."
Joy and peace is prayed for each of you. "Do what God says and say what God does!"
