Wait for God

Joyce and I are in NW Iowa. It is a nice day. We had a great family gathering on Saturday for Mom Vermeer's 95th birthday. I believe there were 28 of us. We are sorry that Juliana got stranded in Florida and was not able to make it as previously planned. Maya and Cora our two youngest grandchildren did well with all of the activity. Our children should be back home by the time you read this. So we appreciate their effort to make the gathering by traveling such a long way for a short time. Joyce and siblings will celebrate again on Wednesday June 25 which is the actual birth date. So we get cake and birthday treats twice, not that we need it however. It is fun being together with Joyce's family for the week.

From today's lectionary reading: "But as for me, I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me." Micah 7 verse 7

This is what we are to do day by day in our living. We look and wait and trust. It is a perspective that brings serenity and confidence to one's life. God is faithful and will not disappoint. We need courage to obey and serve though at times we may question the reality of this perspective and maybe even of God. Thankfully God is not dependent on our feelings and thoughts. And our salvation and relationship with God is not dependent on us but on God who promises to be sufficient for our every need.

Joy and peace to you who "do what God says and say what God does" and also to you who don't. We are all loved by the living God, Creator of heaven and earth.
