"I waited patiently for the LORD; He inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the desolate pit...and set my feet upon a rock...He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God...Happy are those who make the LORD their trust..." Psalm 40:1,2,3,4
I have been trying to follow the biblical example of spelling LORD with all capital letters in my journals. This biblical model is based on the most holy nature of God's name which is interpreted Yahweh. In original Hebrew it is YHWH as there were no vowels. The name of God was so revered that the Hebrews dared not to speak it. I too want to revere the name of the LORD. I believe the LORD has picked my life up and set it upon a solid foundation. So my struggle with the LORD is why he will not do this for a close relative who is in the pit of despair and needs to be lifted up. Why, O LORD, why? I suppose I could lose faith over this dilemma but will not. The question with which I struggle is as old as the book of Job. I like the statement of Job which shows unconditional faith and confidence in the LORD; "Though God slay me yet will I trust in Him!"
Charles Spurgeon writes; "Child of suffering, be patient. God has not passed over you. He who feeds the sparrows will furnish you with what you need. Do not let despair drag you down; hope, always hope...There is One who cares for you. His eye is fixed on you, His heart beats with pity over your sorrow, and His powerful hand will yet bring you the help you need. The darkest cloud will scatter itself in showers of mercy. The blackest gloom will give way to morning. If you belong to the LORD, He will bind your wounds and heal your broken heart. Do not doubt God's grace when you face trouble. Believe that God loves you just as much in tough times as in happy times. What a serene and quiet life you could lead if you would just let the God of providence worry about providing for you."
"There is nothing that will enrich our lives more than a deeper and clearer perception of God's presence in the routine of daily living." [from a Guide to Prayer for all who seek God]
Also from that "guide": Since the human soul is capable of receiving God alone, nothing less than God can fill it; which explains why lovers of earthly things are never satisfied. The peace known by lovers of Christ comes from their heart being fixed, in longing and in thought, in the love of God; it is a peace that sings and loves and burns and contemplates.
Hear me O LORD, have mercy and continue your pursuit that I may be whole.
