My son-in-law's mother Nancy Seitz died on May 2. Joel was called down to Dayton on Saturday evening April 29. He drove through the night to arrive in the middle of the night. His brother Eric flew in from Dallas. They joined their father Paul for the vigil leading to her death. I write all that for what I want you to really hear and ponder. When I learned of Nancy's death I texted our sympathy, love and prayers to Joel. Here was part of Joel's response to me which I found absolutely stunning and startling, "She went very peacefully and now has the answer to the world's great mystery."
That statement just amazes me, "has the answer to the world's great mystery!"
"
The Bible in I Corinthians puts it this way, "For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. [13:12]
Later is the 15th chapter verses 54-57 we read "When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: 'Death is swallowed up in victory." 'O death where is your victory? O death where is your sting?' The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law, But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
So we live by faith believing the victory is ours. We are certain yet we question. We believe yet we wait for "for the answer to the world's great mystery."
