Happy Valentine's Day to each of you. We all know it as a day to celebrate love and our special relationships. I have nothing to add to the commentary on love today except to say that I'm grateful for the love of my wife. She is wonderfully caring and supportive. She has been patient and forgiving more times than I care to number. You would think after almost 45 years we would have all the issues and difficulties worked out. But I assure you that we must continue to work at our love and relationship on a continual basis. My old nature is strong and ugly at times. It is repugnant to me as I struggle to become a new person in Christ and be the person that Joyce rightly deserves. (Joyce will have to speak for herself as to her approach to our love and marriage. She sure gave me a nice card and a bag of Dove dark chocolates.) I hoped she liked my computer generated card and I know she appreciated the flowers I gave her last week (I like to beat the rush and the inflated prices.).
We leave tomorrow for our annual winter trip to Florida. We'll see Joyce's brother Dan and wife Barb at Lookout Mountain GA. for the weekend and then join good friends Jim and Kathy Hoss in Orlando/Kissimmee for a week. We're going to check out Orange Beach/Gulf Shores Alabama for a few days on our return home.
Today's lectionary reading is encouraging (usually is as Holy Spirit inspires and applies): Psalm 91:14-16
"Those who love me (God), I will deliver,
I will protect those who know my name.
When they call to me, I will answer them;
I will be with them in trouble,
I will rescue them and honor them.
With long life I will satisfy them and show them my salvation."
God is the great lover of our souls. Our soul work is our gift to God in appreciation for the care of God in our life.
Much joy and peace to you as develop your soul for the glory of God.
We are almost 45 years and "still working things out" : ) : ) Gene is not much for fetching cards, candy, flowers, etc. However, he is a great everyday friend, sweetheart, husband...well I could go on and on! Enjoy your blog, Dave and hi to Joyce. Barbara DeMaster
