As the post title says Joyce and I are back home after a two week trip. We enjoyed our first weekend with Joyce's brother and wife Dan and Barb Vermeer on Look Out Mountain GA. We then had a great week in Orlando with friends Jim and Kathy Hoss. We appreciated the sunny warm weather. On the return trip we spent three nights in Orange Beach AL which has beautiful white sand beaches. The walks on the beach were good but it was not very warm and we did not wear shorts doing so though there were some brave souls doing so even some in swim suits seeking that winter tan. We had a nice lunch with Mike and Lorna Schrier as we passed through Montgomery on our way back home from Orange Beach. We are grateful for good roads and safe travels. Now it is back to the normal life in our condo in Holland where it seems we now have catch-up tasks to do as is normal following time away.
Here are a few quotes to inspire and challenge your soul.
"The transformed life is lived by those who daily claim the power of God to live life at a higher level than it could be lived alone. Living a transformed life is not possible on our own. Connecting our desire to do and be better with God's amazing grace creates a partnership that leads to transformation."
"Give me assurance that I belong to You. Remove from me those nagging doubts and needless fears that I may not be good enough to be numbered with the great company of heaven."
"Jesus teaches us a model of living that is to be flexible and open to the flow of God's compassion and guidance rather than fixated on our expectations. We need to be available to God's initiative."
Also was going to mention the History channel's 5 part series on the Bible which began last night. Did you see it? It did not get good reviews from those in the know about making movies. I enjoyed watching it and hearing the stories from a different perspective and viewing. I thought the characters portrayed some real life emotions in the challenge to trust God and keep on trusting when it seemed hopeless to do so. Lot's wife just couldn't put it together and ended up a salt block that cracked apart. The Moses part of the biblical drama also was uniquely portrayed though much of his story had to be by-passed for time's sake. Maybe this will wet your appetite to tune in next Sunday though you won't be out a lot for soul-making if you miss it.
I pray God's amazing presence and provision for you as you do your soul-work.
