I am weak and heavy laden to use the words of an old gospel song as I deal with sore throat and cold symptoms. I did not leave the house today (very unusual) and even had a long afternoon sleep. Joyce and I are to leave tomorrow for a pre-Easter trip to family in WI. IA. and IL. I keep assuring her that I will be ready to go. I really wanted to share the following thoughts from the ESV study Bible on II Corinthians 5:11-17. You could possibly read those verses for context of the following:
"By Christ's death, the death penalty for sin has been paid for all those who trust in him, and God counts their old life as ended, thus freeing them from any future penal claims...As a consequence of Christ's death, the power of sin in one's life has also been broken for all those who trust in Christ. Christ's cross therefore frees the believer for a new way of life."
"The redemption of a people who now live for Christ by living for others, effected by the power of the Spirit and the death of Christ is the beginning of the new creation that was destined to come amid this evil age."
This is such great news "the power of sin in one's life is broken" albeit I still fight against it. We are freed for a new way of life!
We live for Christ by living for others (starting in our homes).
I pray that you each have a blessed Palm Sunday, Holy Week and Easter Sunday. The above is what these special days are all about.
"Do what God says! Say what God does!
