Rest Awhile

"Then Jesus said to the apostles, "Let's go off by ourselves and rest awhile." Mark 6:30-31

Joyce and I are following this instruction by being in Arizona for a month. However we do need to work a bit at the rest part as we seem to be on the go more than I might like. Joyce probably handles the socializing better than I do with my tendency to be quiet and introverted. We are having a fun time and give thanks to God for the beautiful weather we've been having.

"Everything we call a trial, a sorrow or a duty, believe me, that angel's hand is there, the gift is there, and the wonder of an overshadowing presence. Our joys, too, be not content with them as joys. They, too, conceal diviner gifts." Fra Giovanni Giocondo in my journaling book

When I saw the gospel lesson for Sunday I knew it was the Sunday before Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent (which is today)because it was the transfiguration account which is normally used on this Sunday in the church year. From that account in Luke's Gospel, chapter 9, verse 29; And as he (Jesus) was praying the appearance of his face was altered and his clothing became dazzling white."

Prayer changes me. It gives God opportunity to access my soul and being to alter my countenance and help me to reflect the light and radiance of God through my life.

Be still my soul the Lord is at my side and nothing can separate me from God's love in Jesus, nothing.
