Happy Memorial Day to each of you. It was quite uneventful for Joyce and I. We were home all day and did some cleaning work, relaxed some and I did an exercise bike ride. Beautiful weather today. We are just back from a walk and I'm sweating a little. We enjoyed supper with Leah, Kurt and Juliana at their house. Emma was with a friend. We had the traditional fare of hamburgs, brats, watermelon, cole slaw, chips and dip and dessert was key lime pie. It was all very good.
From last weeks' lectionary readings, a quote from Jesus in John fourteen (verse 27);
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.."
This is good news! I have divine peace in my life and I am not to have fears. Jesus wants my heart to be untroubled as it rests in him. The Spiritual Formation Bible states that we make a choice to trust Jesus to bear our troubles for us. So can we give our fears and troubles to Jesus and live in His peace. I sure am trying.
Do what God says and say what God does.
