Watching Daily

We had a beautiful day for the final Tulip Time parade of 2014. Joyce and I braved the traffic and crowds to view the parade. Our Holland family, Kurt, Leah, Juliana and Emma are in the parade as the mayor and family. They looked splendid. They walk the two plus mile route in wooden shoes and Dutch dress. They are joined by the other city council members. The tulips are really starting to bloom and next week will probably be peak tulip time here. We'll be here if you want to come see them. it will be splendid.

Here is my favorite lectionary verse of the week: Proverbs 8:33-34
"Hear instruction (from the Wisdom of God) and be wise, and do not neglect it. Happy is the one who listens to me (Wisdom of God), watching daily at my gates, waiting beside my doors."

This is why I seek daily to read God's Word and to be quiet before God to receive God's guidance for my life. Too often I probably miss God's leading but I trust God's providence and ability to fulfill God's plan and will for me. I want the life that finds its meaning in God. God graciously gives it to me and loves me. Indeed, to use the words of the verse, I am a happy person and fulfilled.

May the peace of God be yours as well. "Do what God says and say what God does."
